Appropriations Requests: FY 2010

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

Program Name: Earth Systematic Missions and Decadal Survey Missions, Exoplanet Exploration and Mars Exploration Program

Request: Program Support

Project Recipient:  National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

Explanation of the Request:
Request support for funding the following three critically important NASA programs, which will benefit the work being done at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), located in La Cañada Flintridge, California, for the Earth Systematic Missions and Decadal Survey Missions, Exoplanet Exploration and continued funding for the Mars Exploration Program.  The Earth Systematic and Decadal Survey Missions are critical in addressing global resource challenges.  NASA’s Exoplanet Exploration will utilize the most sensitive instruments ever built, capable of reaching beyond the bounds of our solar system.  The Mars Exploration Program remains one of NASA’s most challenging and exciting endeavors, and presents tremendous scientific opportunities.  Federal investment in science and technology programs like these is incredibly important to our nation’s economic health and security and has worked to ensure that new technologies are developed and remain accessible and affordable for families and businesses.
