Dreier Announces Annual Congressional High School Art Competition

WASHINGTON, DC Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) has announced the kickoff of the annual Congressional high school art competition, “An Artistic Discovery 2010.”  The competition provides high school students an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents.  Each Congressional district hosts its own competition and each winner’s artwork is displayed for a year in the tunnel connecting the Cannon House Office Building and the U.S. Capitol Building.  There will also be a local winner, whose artwork will be displayed in Congressman Dreier’s San Dimas office.

“Our area’s budding artists always produce an interesting, eclectic group of pieces,” Dreier said.  “The annual Congressional art competition is a great way to encourage and recognize the work of students throughout the Foothills.  I look forward to seeing what is put forward this year.”

The letter of invitation, rules and guidelines for the competition have been sent to each high school in the 26th district.  They are also available by clicking here.  The deadline for submissions is April 19, 2010.  Judging will take place during the week of April 26th and the winners will be announced on May 1, 2010 during an awards ceremony at the Walker House located at 121 North San Dimas Avenue, San Dimas.

Students interested in participating in the competition should contact their high school art teacher or Cheryl Lynn in Congressman Dreier’s San Dimas office at (909)575-6226.
