Dreier-Supported Legislation Honoring Distinguished Flying Cross Recipients Passes House

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) supported passage of legislation today in honor of members of the armed forces who have received the Distinguished Flying Cross. Dreier is a cosponsor of H.R. 2788, the Distinguished Flying Cross National Memorial Act, which was unanimously approved by the House by a vote of 410-0.

“It is fitting that we recognize the many brave service members who risked their lives to protect our nation,” Dreier said. “The Distinguished Flying Cross medal recipients deserve a memorial in their honor so that future generations will remember their acts of heroism. I am proud to be a cosponsor of this bipartisan legislation.”

H.R. 2788 will designate the Distinguished Flying Cross National Memorial to recognize all Distinguished Flying Cross recipients. The Distinguished Flying Cross is awarded to members of the armed services who performed acts of “heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight.”

Charles Lindbergh and former President George H.W. Bush as well as residents throughout Southern California, including Mr. Edward J. Holguin of Walnut, are among the recipients of the Distinguished Flying Cross. The memorial will be located at the March Field Air Museum, located at the March Air Reserve Base in Riverside, California.
