Dreier Honors Older Sierra Madre American of the Year

WASHINGTON, DC- Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) honored Fran Garbaccio, the Older Sierra Madre American of the Year, last week.  Every year, the Senior Community Commission recognizes the outstanding community service of one individual who is 60 years or older and Fran received the honor this year.

“Congratulations to Fran Garbaccio for this well-deserved award,” Dreier said.  “After having the privilege of meeting Fran and attending the Older Sierra Madre American of the Year ceremony, I am truly impressed by all of her hard work and for making Sierra Madre a better place to live.  Her dedication to public service should be commended and I am sure our entire community joins me in congratulating Fran on this wonderful accomplishment.”

Mrs. Garbaccio moved to Sierra Madre in 1960 and has been an active member of the community ever since.  She was the co-leader of Girl Scout Troop 545 and served as the Registrar for Pasadena High School.  Fran also finds the time to remain involved in her church, the Sierra Madre Environmental Action Council and the Friends of the Sierra Madre Library.

Dreier attended the reception for Mrs. Garbaccio on May 14 at the Hart Park House/Senior Center in Sierra Madre.
