Dreier Hosts “Road to Employment” Job Fair in Monrovia

SAN DIMAS, CA – Congressman David Dreier (R-CA) hosted the “Road to Employment” Job Fair in Monrovia, California today where he talked with job seekers and businesses large and small about how they are navigating the
current economic environment.  Nearly fifty potential employers and nine resource agencies participated in today’s Job Fair, which was attended by close to 1,000 job seekers.

“The unemployment rate remains far too high here in California and across the country,” Dreier said.  “Even in this difficult job market, there are ways to move forward.  Today’s job fair provided an opportunity for job seekers to meet with potential employers and hone their job search skills.  Meeting with the job seekers and employers gave me a renewed sense of optimism that our economy will recover and people will get back to work.”

Among the participating employers at today’s Job Fair were Courtyard by Marriott, Kaiser Permanente, Monrovia Memorial Hospital, Southern California Edison, and government agencies including the FBI, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and the California Highway Patrol.

Dreier said he appreciated the support of the City of Monrovia, particularly Mayor Mary Ann Lutz and the City Council Members, for their co-sponsorship of today’s event.  “Getting our economy back on track will be a team effort,” Dreier said.  “We need to continue working together to help those who need a job find one.”
